Like Coming Home: 3M’s African American Network Celebrates 40 Years of Success

For Lois McCray, joining the African American Network at 3M was like finding a second family.

“I now had people that I could share holidays with. When their kids were celebrating, I could celebrate with them,” recalls Lois, a retired 3M Supply Chain manager. “We were all just able to support each other.”

AAN celebrates its 40th birthday May 14, 2016. The group started as the Afro-American Arts Society as a way to shine a light on deserving local artists. It also managed to create a sense of community.

As the organization has grown, so has its mission: It now plays a vital role in recruiting and retaining some of 3M’s best and brightest.
